With a new free service from YouTube, owned by Google, you can make your own short “Search Story” video. These are quick videos basically made up of screen captures of Google searches. The searches can be for terms, images, maps, videos or anything else you can look up through the search engine. I made the one below for The Palmetto Technology Hub, just to show you what can be done.

All you need is a web browser, a little creativity and a YouTube account. The images, music and know how are supplied for you. Once you make your video, you can imbed it in blogs and web pages, post it on FaceBook, or announce it on Twitter. This is a quick and easy way to create something that will help your organization stand out from the crowd.

So go to YouTube’s Search Story and make your own. And please, let us know what you make. We would love for you to come back here and share a link to your video.

So, you’ve heard all about twitter, but aren’t quite sure you want to set up an account.  This 6-minute video will give you an overview on how you can use some of the features without a twitter account.

SC PaTH is please to announce an expansion of services!  When you need tech support, you probably think of a computer that won’t come on or perhaps a spreadsheet that just won’t total.  And that’s how we started, focusing more on the traditional technology needs.  With the help of our fantastic volunteers, we’ve been able to help out some nonprofits in our community.

When we did our initial survey about starting SC PaTH, we learned that many nonprofits are unaware of TechSoup, which is THE place to go for nonprofit software needs.

On June 10th, TechSoup is offering a free webinar so you can learn about their services.  They’ll talk about getting registered and eligibility requirements for products.  If you’re not already a TechSoup member, this is definitely a good use of time to have someone from your organization attend.

You may be surprised at how much is available to you.  Register today! You’ll be glad you did.
