Program description:

This program prepares you for an entry level position as a Veterinary Assistant. This course does not give a certification in Veterinary Assisting. You will learn skills necessary to perform duties in a veterinary hospital setting. Students will learn correct restraint techniques for various species and procedures; basic anatomy, medical terminology, reproduction, ageing, understanding prescriptions, orphan care, laboratory skills, surgical skills, and diagnostic imaging will also be covered. Course consists of 80 hours of lecture and 30 hours of externship. Dates below do not include externship. Externship hours may vary based on facility availability.
