Program description:

Our Chairside Dental Assisting course will prepare you for many dental settings! You will complete the course over 16 weeks and 100 hours of hands-on training. Lectures are held online Monday-Friday at your own pace and Clinicals are Saturdays 9:00am-3:00pm. Introduction to Dental Assisting, Role of the Dental Assistant, The Dental team, Characteristics of a professional Dental Assistant, Law & Ethics The Dental Profession- Orientation to the Dental Profession, Dental Basics, Dental Anatomy & Terminology Head Anatomy, Oral Histology, Anatomy of a Tooth SOAP, Charting, Classification of Cavities, Chart Components, Chart Documentation OSHA, HIV, Infection Control Isolation, Rubber Dam Placement 4-Handed Dentistry Amalgam, Composites Tub and Tray Systems Preventive Dentistry, Sealants, Oral Hygiene Periodontal Disease, Oral Prophylaxis, Topical Fluoride Study Models, Impression taking & pouring, Trimming, Bute registration CPR, Crown & Bridge, Provisional Crowns Oral Surgery, Prosthodontics, Endodontics, Orthodontics Radiology Safety & Procedure Intraoral Full Mouth Series & Panorex. Upon Completion: Receive a CCDC Certificate of Completion, Radiology Safety Training Certificate, OSHA, and a CPR Certificate. Testing: Radiation Health and Safety Exam (RHS)- Needed to take x-rays in SC. Offered through Dental Assisting National Board (DANB). Cost $270, not covered by CCDC. RHS along with Infection Control Exam (ICE)- Offered through DANB. Cost $375, not covered by CCDC.
