This 110-hour program provides a basic level of both knowledge and demonstrable skills for individuals who provide nursing or nursing-related services to clients in a skilled nursing facility (SNF) or nursing facility (NF). Instructor-led online of 40 hours of theory and 30 hours of skills demonstration and techniques are taught online using Cisco WebEx and D2L. 40 hours of clinical are taught at a clinical facility with an instructor observing and demonstrating the 22 skill sets required by the SCDHHS. An overview of concepts related to nursing care of the elderly will be taught. Emphasis is on communications, care of older/chronically ill adult populations, and responsibilities/competencies of basic procedures for patient care. Successful completion is a prerequisite to taking the State Nurse Aide Exam to become state-certified. Will need Immunization record and to complete registration papers for FDTC. Background Check (results must be clear and/or meet the clinical sites requirements, and screening must have been completed in last 30 days through CWD preferred vendor). Upon receiving clear/approved background check results, student may register for course if they provide: Copy of Driver’s License or ID, Immunization Record (must have listed Vaccines/Titers- 2 doses of MMR, 2 doses Varicella-unless chicken pox disease is documented, 3 Hep B doses , Flu Shot-during flu season, and Childhood Series Tdap with Adult booster after 5/3/2005), Student must purchase a 2-pc Solid Navy Scrub Uniform prior to start of course (Must wear everyday), Completed CWD Registration form, Student has received a copy of the Healthcare Handbook and agrees to policies and procedures. PLEASE NOTE: A new background and/or drug screen may be required again 30-days prior to the start of clinical-cost covered by college.
