LowCounty Medical Training Center is an 8,500-square-foot state-of-the-art facility designed to meet diverse training needs, including teaching, assessment, and hands-on clinical skills practice. This expansive space likely features advanced equipment and simulation labs, allowing students to gain practical experience in a realistic and immersive environment.
Clinical Medical Assistant
The Medical Assistant course is designed to expand the skill set of a CNA with advanced knowledge necessary for transition into a hospital/doctor’s office setting. The course consists of introduction to hospital equipment and supplies, as well as advanced skills in the following areas: 12-lead EKG, basic phlebotomy, performing urinary catheterization, infection control, glucometer use, sterile technique, specimen collection and handling, measuring output of bodily fluids including chest tubes and surgical site drains, tracheotomy and supplemental oxygen care, and BLS certification and training. Certification: A certificate of completion and BLS card are awarded upon successful completion of the program. Strict attendance is required and first day of orientation is mandatory. Prerequisites: High School Diploma and/or Nursing Certification. The course is 1 year long.
