Pharmacy technicians work under the direct supervision of a pharmacist. Their responsibilities include preparing medications for patients in a variety of settings. Pharmacy technicians may find employment in healthcare organizations or in a retail environment, and other duties may include compounding ingredients, working with patients to ensure wellness, and using advanced technology to prepare and deliver medications safely. This course is offered in a hybrid format. Lecture will be delivered via virtual instruction, and students will conduct skills labs in a face-to-face environment. Good candidates for the program will possess attention to detail, and solid written and verbal communication skills. The ability to multitask and work in a fast paced environment is also important. Graduates of the program are eligible to earn the national Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) through either the National Healthcareers Association (NHA).
