Second Chance Job Center
MANUFACTURING – Level 1
Second Chance Job Center, LLC will be teaching MANUFACTURING – Level 1. SCJC is a post-secondary institution licensed and approved by the Commission on Higher Education (CHE). SCJC has also been an approved training provider for SC DEW since 2018. SCJC Programs prepare students (including at risk and under-served populations such as youth, veterans, reentering citizens and displaced workers) with the skills and experience needed for a successful career in the manufacturing industry through mentoring, vocational skills training, job and career placement services. We offer 2 certifications for this workforce: Certified Production Technician (CPT): The CPT Certification addresses the core technical competencies of higher skilled production workers in all sectors of manufacturing and cover five Production Modules: Safety, Quality Practices & Measurement, Manufacturing Processes & Production, Maintenance Awareness and Green Production and a full CPT Certification to those who pass all four core modules. Certified Logistics Technician (CLT): The CLT Certification addresses the core technical competencies of higher skilled, frontline material handling workers in all supply chain facilities: in factories, warehouses, distribution centers and transportation companies. CPT and CLT are the only national industry certifications, for both manufacturing and logistics. Standards: Standards reflect the manufacturing industry’s skill requirements for entry, semi-skilled and skilled levels of job proficiency. Our Work Standards for Production are organized around five key activity areas. • Safety • Quality Practices and Measurement • Manufacturing Processes and Production • Maintenance Awareness • Green Production* SCJC's curriculum combines performance based learning in the manufacturing industry with academic skills training that includes life skills, career development, and paid on the job training.

Our partnerships with local, regional & international manufacturers to include The SC Manufacturing Extension Partnership (SCMEP) whom we are an approved training provider for, allows us to teach our academic and vocational manufacturing training programs using a European style model which means students receive academic training and real life, hands on PAID training with our manufacturing employer partners during their 6 to 12 month academic and practical training / education period. Our employer partners prefer our training model over traditional and outdated apprenticeship programs as 90% of businesses have their own standards, methods, training models and certifications that align with our vocational programs. SCJC has a 92% success rate which means 92% of students who complete our programs are still gainfully employed 1 year after completion.
