Electrocardiograph Technician
This course provides an overview of the basic cardiovascular terminology, anatomy, and physiology. The course focuses on the proper placement of electrocardiogram EKG) lead and maintenance of equipment to obtain an accurate 12-lead EKG. Students learn to recognize cardiac arrhythmias. The course also outlines the responsibilities of ECG/EKG technicians and provides clinical laboratory opportunities to develop entry level skills. Students will learn the following tasks, how to set up and administer EKGs (electrocardiograms), prepare and apply Holter monitor, and interpret EKG readings. After successful completion of the course the student will receive a certificate of completion. The course prepares the student for the National HealthCareer Association.
