Driving Academy operates as part of a dual business model—our parent company, Drive Alert, has been in the driver education space offering Class D training since 2008, and in 2024 we expanded by merging our CDL program under the Driving Academy brand. We offer comprehensive Class A and Class B CDL training that integrates classroom instruction, hands-on yard and road driving, state-of-the-art fully interactive simulator training, and iPad-based pre-trip inspection technology. Students learn CDL Knowledge test content, vehicle safety and inspection procedures, backing and vehicle control skills, and gain real on-road driving experience. The Class A program (160 hours) prepares students to operate tractor-trailer combination vehicles and successfully complete the Knowledge Test, Pre-Trip Inspection, Basic Skills, and Road Test. The Class B program (120 hours) trains students to operate large single commercial vehicles such as box trucks, dump trucks, and buses, with optional School Bus endorsement training. Entrance requirements for both programs include being at least 18 years old, holding a valid driver’s license for at least one year, and possessing a valid Medical Examiner’s Certificate.
Commercial Driver’s License Class ‘B’ Course
The CDL Class B Commercial Driver Training Program at Driving Academy Greenville prepares students to safely operate single commercial motor vehicles, including straight trucks, buses, and dump trucks, in accordance with FMCSA Entry-Level Driver Training (ELDT) requirements and South Carolina CDL regulations. Training includes classroom instruction, interactive simulation training, range training, and on-road driving. Students receive instruction in vehicle inspection, basic vehicle control, backing maneuvers, safe driving practices, and hours-of-service compliance. Program completion prepares students to take the South Carolina CDL Class B knowledge and skills examinations and pursue entry-level employment as commercial drivers.
