Medical Billing & Coding Program
The Medical Billing & Coding Program at Jacobs Medical Academy prepares students for entry-level careers in medical billing, medical coding, health insurance processing, and healthcare revenue cycle support.
PROGRAM LENGTH OPTIONS
• Accelerated 12-Week Option: Students complete the Medical Billing & Coding program on an accelerated 12-week schedule.
• Standard 20-Week Option: Students complete the program over a standard 20-week schedule.
DELIVERY OPTIONS
• Hybrid Option: Students attend scheduled in-person instruction once per week. The remainder of assignments and coursework are completed online throughout the week.
• Fully Online Option: Students complete their coursework online, providing flexibility for students who are unable to attend scheduled in-person classes. Online students may work ahead in their coursework and complete assignments earlier than the scheduled due dates. Students who successfully complete all required coursework and program requirements ahead of schedule may complete the academic portion of the program sooner.
PROGRAM CURRICULUM
Students receive instruction in medical terminology, anatomy and physiology fundamentals, health insurance, claims processing, reimbursement procedures, medical billing, medical coding, healthcare documentation, electronic health records, HIPAA and patient confidentiality, and revenue cycle procedures.
Students are introduced to the use and application of ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS Level II coding systems and learn how medical documentation is used to support accurate coding, billing, and insurance claim submission.
Students must successfully complete all required coursework and program requirements to successfully complete the Medical Billing & Coding Program.
Upon successful completion, students will have completed training designed to prepare them for entry-level medical billing and coding employment and the applicable national certification examination.
