Medical Administrative Assistant Program
The Medical Administrative Assistant Program at Jacobs Medical Academy prepares students for entry-level careers in medical offices, clinics, hospitals, and other healthcare administrative settings. Students receive training in the essential administrative and professional skills needed to support patients, healthcare providers, and medical office operations.
PROGRAM LENGTH OPTIONS
• Accelerated 13-Week Option: Students complete the Medical Administrative Assistant program on an accelerated 13-week schedule.
• Standard 20-Week Option: Students complete the program over a standard 20-week schedule.
DELIVERY OPTIONS
• Hybrid Option: Students attend in-person instruction once per week on Wednesdays from 3:00 PM–6:00 PM. The remainder of assignments and coursework are completed online throughout the week.
• Fully Online Option: Students complete their coursework online, providing flexibility for students who are unable to attend scheduled in-person classes.
ONLINE STUDENT FLEXIBILITY
Students enrolled in the fully online option have the flexibility to work ahead in their coursework and complete assignments earlier than the scheduled due dates. Students are not required to wait until the scheduled week to complete available assignments.
Students who successfully complete all required coursework and program requirements ahead of schedule may complete the academic portion of the program sooner.
PROGRAM CURRICULUM
Students receive instruction in medical terminology, patient scheduling, telephone and front-office communications, patient registration, medical records management, healthcare documentation, insurance and billing fundamentals, electronic health records, HIPAA and patient confidentiality, professionalism, customer service, and other essential medical administrative skills.
Students learn how to professionally communicate with patients, manage appointments, maintain medical records, assist with administrative healthcare processes, and support the daily operations of a medical office.
PROGRAM COMPLETION
Students must successfully complete all required coursework and program requirements to successfully complete the Medical Administrative Assistant Program.
Upon successful completion, students will have completed training designed to prepare them for entry-level medical administrative employment and the applicable national certification examination.
