Driving Change
Driving Change is a workforce development organization that provides CDL certification training and career pathway opportunities for individuals seeking employment in the transportation and logistics industry. The program combines classroom instruction, hands-on behind-the-wheel training, safety and compliance education, employability skills development, and career readiness support to prepare participants for successful entry into the commercial driving workforce.Driving Change focuses on serving underserved populations, including opportunity youth, justice-involved individuals, veterans, and individuals facing barriers to employment. Through industry partnerships and employer connections, the program helps participants obtain industry-recognized credentials and access sustainable career opportunities within high-demand workforce sectors.The CDL training program operates in alignment with South Carolina DMV requirements and FMCSA Entry-Level Driver Training (ELDT) standards.
CDL Class A Training
The Driving Change CDL Class A Training Program is a comprehensive workforce training program designed to prepare participants for entry-level careers in the transportation and logistics industry. The program provides instruction in commercial vehicle operation, vehicle inspection procedures, safety regulations, trip planning, cargo handling, hours-of-service compliance, and defensive driving practices in accordance with Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) Entry-Level Driver Training (ELDT) requirements and South Carolina DMV standards. Participants receive classroom instruction, CDL permit preparation, hands-on range training, and behind-the-wheel driving experience to develop the knowledge and skills necessary to safely operate a Class A commercial motor vehicle. In addition to technical training, students receive employability skills development, career readiness preparation, case management support, and job placement assistance. Upon successful completion of the program, participants are prepared to take the South Carolina CDL skills examination and pursue employment opportunities in local, regional, and over-the-road transportation sectors. The program supports workforce development by connecting participants with high-demand, family-sustaining careers in trucking, logistics, distribution, and supply chain operations. Driving Change places a strong emphasis on serving individuals facing barriers to employment, including justice-involved individuals, veterans, opportunity youth, and economically disadvantaged individuals, while providing the support necessary to achieve long-term employment success and economic mobility.
